Seasonal Tournaments
Provides an opportunity for players of all ages to compete against one another in matchplay for points and prizes. There are 4 major tournaments a year (1 per season)! Matches are played in Santa Clarita, CA, or at El Cariso Park in Sylmar, CA. See below for details.

Winter Tournament Dates (Round of 16):
Round 1: January 4th – January 11th
Quaterfinal: January 11th – January 18th
Semifinal: January 18th – January 25th
Final: January 25thth – February 1st
Tournament Details:
Any player (even those not participating in Sky Team Tennis city or county classes) may register. Players enter into a single-elimination singles and/or doubles bracket. Players are expected to know how to serve and keep score prior to registration. Please carefully read through the details below.
Pick up tournament balls/scorekeeper
Players will pick up a can of tournament balls from the coordinator at the designated pick-up time (sent via email). The 12U (Green) tournament uses green balls, while all other tournaments use standard yellow balls. Players will use these balls throughout the tournament and will get to keep them. Scorekeepers will also be provided, but must be returned. *Note, doubles teams will get 1 can of new balls per team.
Reach out to your opponent
Players reach out to their opponent to complete their match at an agreed upon time and location. Matches are to be played in Santa Clarita, CA or El Cariso Community Regional Park in Sylmar, CA. For each round, players get one week to complete their match and report the score.
Tennis scoring and details
First player(s) to 10 games wins , regular tennis scoring (with ads). Players may take a 5–10 minute warm-up before the match begins.
Regular tennis scoring (with ads):
Game points: 0 (love), 15, 30, 40, game.
Deuce/Advantage: At 40–40 (deuce), a player must win 2 points in a row to win the game.
If the server wins the first point: “Ad-in.”
If the receiver wins the first point: “Ad-out.”
If the player fails to win the second point, score returns to deuce.
Serving: Players get 2 serves per point and alternate serving each game. Missing both serves gives a point to the opponent.
Changing sides: Players switch ends after the first game, then every 2 games (e.g., 1–0, 2–1, 4–1…).
If games are tied 9–9, a 7 point tiebreaker will be played to decide the winner of the match.
Standard 7 point tiebreaker: First to 7 points with a 2-point margin wins (e.g. 7–5, 8–6, etc.). The player whose turn it is serves the 1st point, then players alternate with the opponent serving 2 points each. Players switch sides every 6 points (e.g. 3–3). The tiebreak winner(s) wins the match 10–9.
Winner reports score
Winner reports score by date shown on the bracket to the coordinator (via email) and prepares for the next match the following week.

The bracket, ball/scorekeeper pick-up, and tournament contacts will be emailed to the registered participants on Saturday, January 3rd.
Please report your score to the coordinator by the date shown on the bracket. The bracket will be updated weekly and can be viewed on our webpage.

Refund Policy:
Once the brackets have been posted for the tournament, no refunds will be issued. Players who are not able or willing to compete will forfeit a loss.
A minimum of 4 players is needed to run a tournament (singles or doubles). If the minimum is not met, a refund will be issued to players registered exclusively for that event. Players registered for both events will not receive a refund if at least one event runs.
